privacy policy

sidealong is a Mac app made by Aprianil Sesti Rangga ("Apri", "I", "me"), an individual based in Indonesia. This policy explains what data sidealong and sidealong.com collect, why, and what you can do about it. Questions go to apri@sidealong.com.

the short version

Your screen, your code, your prompts and your voice never reach me. I only hold your email if you join the waitlist or buy a licence, and I only use it for that.

what the app does with your work

sidealong runs the coding agent you already use, such as Claude Code or Codex, on your Mac. Anything you send to that agent, including screenshots, recordings, code and prompts, goes straight from your Mac to that agent's provider (for example Anthropic or OpenAI), under your own account and their privacy policy. It does not pass through any server of mine.

When you talk over a walkthrough, your voice is turned into text on your Mac. The audio is not uploaded anywhere by sidealong. If you use your agent's own voice mode, such as /voice in Claude Code, sidealong passes your microphone to the agent, and that audio goes to its provider like anything else you send it.

sidealong asks for some macOS permissions (accessibility, screen recording, browser control, microphone, speech recognition) so its features work. They are used on your Mac only, for the feature you are using at that moment.

what I collect

Licences. If you buy sidealong, my licence server stores your email address, your licence key, and an identifier for each Mac you activate it on. I use this only to check that your licence is valid and to help you if something goes wrong with it.

Update checks. The app checks for new versions. That request includes the app version and, like any web request, your IP address. I don't use it to identify you.

Waitlist. If you join the waitlist, your email is stored with Loops (loops.so), the service I use to send email. I use it to send you your invite and to tell you about changes to sidealong. Every email has an unsubscribe link.

Support. If you email me, I keep the conversation so I can help you.

The website. sidealong.com has no analytics, no tracking pixels and no advertising cookies. Once you join the waitlist, your browser remembers that you joined, so the form doesn't ask again; that note stays on your device. The site is served through Cloudflare, which processes basic request data (such as IP address) to deliver and protect the site. The brand page at sidealong.com/brand loads its fonts from Google Fonts, which sees your IP address when it does.

payments

Purchases are handled by Polar (polar.sh), which acts as the merchant of record. Polar processes your payment details, billing address and tax information under its own privacy policy. I never see or store your card details. Polar shares with me what I need to issue your licence, such as your name, email and order details.

who else processes your data

I don't sell your data, and I don't share it with anyone else unless the law requires it.

how long I keep it

Licence records are kept while your licence exists and for as long as tax and accounting rules require afterwards. Waitlist emails are kept until you unsubscribe or ask me to delete them. Support emails are kept as long as they are useful for helping you.

your rights

You can ask me to show you the data I hold about you, correct it, export it, or delete it. Email apri@sidealong.com and I'll reply within 30 days. Deleting your licence record means sidealong can no longer verify your licence.

Depending on where you live (for example the EU, the UK or California), you may have further rights under local law, and you can complain to your local data protection authority.

changes

If this policy changes, I'll update the date at the top. If a change affects how your data is used, I'll email paying customers before it takes effect.
